Sterling Rescue Supports Frederick County, VA

On May 1, 2023 members of Sterling Rescue supported Frederick County, VA to allow their members time to honor Frederick County Fire and Rescue Deputy Chief Chester T. Lauck, who passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023. Sterling Rescue support included an Advanced Life Support Paramedic ambulance. During the day, our team responded to emergency calls from Greenwood Road Station 18, the County’s busiest station. Sterling Rescue also provided two utility vehicles, tents, our Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV) and van in support of the memorial service and funeral.

Chief Lauck suffered a cardiac event at his home in the early morning hours on Saturday, April 22, after engaging in firefighting operations on a wildland fire on Back Creek Road in Gore, Virginia. Chief Lauck selflessly served the greater Frederick County community for decades in a variety of roles, serving as the Chief of the Emergency Management Division at the time of his death.

He retired from the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) Fire and Rescue Department as a Battalion Chief responsible for the Special Operations Division.  He served in various positions as Firefighter/Medic, Lieutenant, Captain, and Battalion Chief over a 22-year period from 1985 to 2007.  While a Firefighter/Medic at Dulles, Chief Lauck would often run calls in the Sterling community.

Our deepest condolences to Chief Lauck’s family and the Frederick County, VA Fire and Rescue team, and we are honored to have been able to support them during these services.
