Mana is Sterling Rescue’s newest Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Attendant in Charge (AIC)! Mana is an experienced, nationally and Virginia-certified EMT. In addition to these certifications, Mana completed the additional training required by Loudoun County to be recognized as an AIC, which is an independent provider who can lead an ambulance crew responding to emergency calls. This requires additional training and demonstrating assessment, patient care, and operations skills during many actual calls, under the supervision of an experienced provider. But for Mana, this was a little bit of déjà vu! Mana was a member of Sterling Rescue from 2017 to 2019, but she left the squad when she moved away from the area. The calling for providing EMS services to the Sterling area quickly returned when she moved back to this area last year and she wanted to quickly regain all her certifications.
Why does Mana volunteer and why did she return to Sterling Rescue? “The first time around, I started volunteering to develop new skills. However, I quickly fell in love with the job and drew an immense sense of fulfillment from responding to calls. I joined SVRS again as soon as I was able, to follow my calling,” she stated.
We are so happy to have Mana back with Sterling Rescue and as part of our Day Crew operating from Station 625 in the Cascades Safety Center.
In addition to EMT training, Sterling Rescue also offers the opportunity for free Advanced EMT and Paramedic training to qualified members who wish to advance their emergency medical service skills.
