SVRS Former Chief Receives Lifesaver Award

SVRS is proud of our Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce Valor Award winners that were honored last evening.

In May 2023, a gentleman collapsed from a cardiac arrest at a local store. A nurse witnessed the event and immediately initiated CPR. Others in the store called 911 and activated an emergency response. Shopping in an adjacent store, Chief Harasek was alerted to events and rushed to assist. She joined in and continued life-saving measures.

A Loudoun County Sheriff’s Deputy arrived with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), successfully delivering one shock. Medic 635 and Rescue 635 arrived on the scene and swiftly took over, following the High Performance CPR model. The coordinated efforts paid off — the patient regained a pulse and began speaking. The patient was transported to the INOVA Loudoun Hospital.

Not only are we proud of these award winners, this event shows that knowing CPR and using an AED can save lives! Join us and be a lifesaver!
