Operational members of the Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad provided emergency medical support, along with other fire and rescue departments from throughout the region, at the 58th Presidential Inauguration Celebration in Washington, DC on 20 January 2017. In supporting the event, Sterling Rescue staffed two Advanced Life Support units (Medic 625 and Medic 615), an all-terrain vehicle (ATV615), two Bicycle teams (BIKE615 and BIKE625), and a Command Officer (DUTY 615); while continuing to staff our stations back in Sterling with volunteers.
Units made many patient contacts and transports several patients to hospitals in DC.
This was Sterling Rescue’s twelfth Presidential Inauguration, beginning with Nixon’s second inauguration. Over the years Sterling Rescue has supported many high-profile events each year, to include the annual 4th of July Fireworks in Washington, DC, the Marine Corps Marathon, Papal Visit, Dulles Days, 150th Anniversary commemorating the Civil War, and other events and activities in the region.
Thanks to all the members who participated in the event.
