On February 10, 2024, the Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad hosted its 60th Anniversary Celebration and Awards Banquet at the Belmont Country Club in Ashburn, VA.

The Banquet brought our members, families and friends together for an evening of reflection and celebration of a highly successful past year, where Sterling Rescue continued to provide responsive emergency medical services and rescue support to the Sterling community. In 2023, Sterling Rescue volunteer Paramedics, Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians, and Emergency Medical Technicians, supported by our dedicated administrative members, worked around the clock, staffing three rescue stations and responding to 8463 calls. Last year, Sterling Rescue members delivered 59,572 hours of emergency management services to the community.
During the formal portion of the banquet, President Jen Ferguson and Chief Sam Neglia reflected on our achievements during 2023, presenting performance and years of service awards to operational and administrative members. Next, Sterling Rescue’s 2024 officers were sworn in by The Honorable Thomas Horne, retired Judge of the Loudoun County Circuit Court. The formal portion of the banquet concluded with the ceremonial retiring of the Chaplain 615 Call Sign, in honor of Chaplain Charlie Grant, a long time member and founder of the Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Chaplain’s program. After these events, the group enjoyed an evening of friendship, comraderie, music and dancing. It was a great evening, enjoyed by all.
Banquet attendees included Sterling Rescue members and guests. A special guest was Sterling Rescue Charter Member, past President and Chief, Bill Bennett. Guests from the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System (LCCFRS) included System Chief Keith Johnson, Operational Medical Director Dr. John Morgan, and Assistant Operational Medical Director Al Pacifico. We were also joined by the leadership of our sister agencies, the Sterling Volunteer Fire Company (SVFC), Purcellville Volunteer Rescue Squad and Hamilton Volunteer Rescue Squad. We thank these leaders for attending and for their strong support of Sterling Rescue.
