Family Fun, Food and Friendship! Our 2023 Picnic

On Sunday, June 4, 2023, members of the Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad and the Sterling Volunteer Fire Company got together for an afternoon of fun, food, games and comradery at our annual picnic. Held at the Dulles Golf Center and Sports Park, our members and their families of all ages enjoyed games, inflatable slides and bounce houses, the facility’s driving range, miniature golf and batting cages, along with great food, and an ice cream truck. If that wasn’t enough, you could try face painting or commission a custom balloon animal. The afternoon offered our members and families a chance to meet new friends, get to know families and reconnect with old friends. This year was even better, as we were joined by our friends and colleagues from Sterling Fire. We work together, so it makes great sense to play together, too.

The picnic featured a tug-of-war competition between Sterling Rescue and Sterling Fire. Sterling Rescue took home the trophy in this lighthearted “competition”, which demonstrated our ability to win when we had an almost three-to-one advantage over Sterling Fire in terms of number of people on the rope.

Want to be at the next picnic? Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad currently has openings for both operational and administrative volunteers. The operational volunteers serve as first responders, delivering emergency medical support to the community. The administrative volunteers perform a variety of support roles in areas such as recruiting, membership support, and business operations. No experience is required, and training is provided. See the Join section of this web site for more details on the requirements, expectations, and benefits. Come join us!
