Exploring Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad

Meet Our Newest EMT Attendant in Charge Chelsea!

Congratulations to Chelsea!! Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad’s Day Crew has another new Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Attendant in Charge (AIC)! We are so happy to have Chelsea returning to SVRS after being out of the area for three years. She was originally with us from 2014 until 2021 and, since then, she obtained her undergraduate degree in cellular, molecular, and physiological biology and then received her nursing degree! She is now a pediatric emergency nurse at a local hospital. Even though Chelsea is a former-member, she needed to complete significant training and other release activities for re-entry to ensure there was no gap in her knowledge of our protocols.

So what motivates someone to return to SVRS after being away for so long? As Chelsea puts it, “I joined SVRS originally when I was 16, which is the earliest possible age. Having originally served the community for almost seven years, Sterling Rescue really became like a family to me. Returning here is like coming home.” Chelsea is excited to continue and expand her healthcare career at both SVRS and as an RN. In her spare time she enjoys crochet, reading and…believe it or not…singing the alphabet backwards! While most of us can’t do that, we do know the ABCs of EMS!! In addition to EMT training, Sterling Rescue also offers the opportunity for Advanced EMT and Paramedic training to qualified members who wish to advance their emergency medical service skills.

Want to join a great team and work with people like Chelsea? Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad currently has openings for both operational and administrative volunteers. The operational volunteers serve as first responders, delivering emergency medical support to the community. The administrative volunteers perform a variety of support roles in areas such as recruiting, membership support, and business operations. No experience is required, and training is provided.  https://sterlingrescue.org/join/
