Several members of the Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad (working with Crew 7) were able to partake in a training exercise over the past weekend using a Volkswagen Beetle, provided by Road Runner Wrecker Service in Sterling, Virginia. During the exercise, the team was able to review and practice skills in basic vehicle stabilization, securing the vehicle battery, and window breaking. In addition, the participants were able to remove the driver and passenger doors with spreaders and O-Cutters, and removed the roof of the vehicle using a saw-saw and O-cutters. Once the roof was removed, the team proceeded to practice doing dash lifts and rolls.
Training is vital for the members of Sterling Rescue as we strive to provide with the community with the very best in emergency services.
The Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad and Crew 7 would like to thank Road Runner Wrecker Service for their generous donation and their continued support to our rescue training program.
