“Empowered to save, Inspired to serve.” Sterling Rescue trains on new Polar Life Pods ® for rapid treatment of severe heat emergencies–
Part of our empowerment is the benefit of having the latest state-of-the-art equipment and training for patient treatment.
It has been hot lately! This heat increases the likelihood of community members suffering a life-threatening heat emergency, such as heat stroke. To manage and care for patients experiencing a heat related emergency, the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System (LC-CFRS) has equipped each Sterling Rescue ambulance with a Polar Life Pod® Cold Water Immersion System. When filled with water and ice, this system rapidly and efficiently cools a patient while allowing monitoring of the patient’s core temperature and vital signs.
All of our crews are training on these new systems, to make sure that we are fully ready to support our community. As you can see in the photo, we also can have a little fun during the training. Team spirit, comraderie and an inspiration to serve our community is central to how Sterling Rescue operates.
Rewarding volunteer service, free training, state-of-the-art equipment and a great group of people to work with- If you are inspired to join us, sign up today in the Join section of this website.
