Chief Harasek Receives Regional EMS Leadership Award

On June 15, 2023, Sterling Rescue Chief Kathy Harasek received the Northern Virginia Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Council Regional Award for Outstanding EMS Leadership. This award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated the ability to organize, conduct, manage, problem solve and evaluate within their organization and, by exemplary leadership and administrative skills, improve the effectiveness, response, and delivery of EMS. The award was presented during the Council’s Regional Awards Ceremony in Fairfax, VA.

Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System Chief Keith H. Johnson echoed the Council’s recognition- “Congratulations Kathy on this well-deserved award.  You have modeled the essence of this award by demonstrating your ability to organize, conduct, manage, problem solve, and provide outstanding EMS Leadership here in Loudoun County and at Sterling Rescue.  Thank you for all that you do and congratulations again.”

Chief Harasek has been a member of Sterling Rescue since 2005. She is a nationally, state and Loudoun County-certified Paramedic, and has served in multiple leadership roles within Sterling Rescue. Serving as Chief of Sterling Rescue since 2019, she has led the organization through COVID-19 and numerous other operational challenges.
