Chilling Out- Training for Heat Emergencies

What is this?? Sterling Rescue’s motto is “Empowered to save, Inspired to serve.” Part of our empowerment is the benefit of having the latest state-of-the-art equipment and training for patient treatment.

We have all seen how hot it is lately. This heat increases the likelihood of community members suffering a life-threatening heat emergency, such as heat stroke. To manage and care for patients experiencing a heat related emergency, the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System (LC-CFRS) has equipped each Sterling Rescue ambulance with a Polar Life Pod® Cold Water Immersion System. When filled with water and ice, this system rapidly and efficiently cools a patient while allowing monitoring of the patient’s core temperature and vital signs.

All of our crews are training on these new systems, to make sure that we are fully ready to support our community.

Team spirit and an inspiration to serve our community is central to how Sterling Rescue operates. Rewarding volunteer service, free training and a great group of people to work with- If you are inspired to join us, sign up today in the Join section of this website.
