Congratulations to Elisa!! Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad’s Day Crew has another new Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Attendant in Charge (AIC)!
Elisa is no stranger to SVRS as she was with us in 2022 until she departed to pursue her degree in Psychology at UVA. While at the university she was an active member of a rescue squad in the Charlottesville area from 2023-2024. Upon graduating, she returned to Sterling and immediately wanted to re-engage with SVRS. As she says, “I really enjoy working with the providers here that are so very passionate about teaching others, For me, that’s a real differentiator for Sterling Rescue.” It’s no coincidence that Elisa is an EMT instructor locally where she can continue to give-back to the community in other ways.
When she is not running calls with us, Elisa is also studying for her Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) and hopes to begin medical college by the Fall of 2026. She’s also active with Supporting Transformative Autism Research (STAR) where she helps to foster awareness of autism for first responders with training and in-person courses.
It’s fantastic to have Elisa back with Sterling Rescue and as part of our Day Crew operating from Station 625 in the Cascades Safety Center.
In addition to EMT training, Sterling Rescue also offers the opportunity for Advanced EMT and Paramedic training to qualified members who wish to advance their emergency medical service skills.
Want to join a great team and work with people like Elisa? Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad currently has openings for both operational and administrative volunteers. The operational volunteers serve as first responders, delivering emergency medical support to the community. The administrative volunteers perform a variety of support roles in areas such as recruiting, membership support, and business operations. No experience is required, and training is provided. https://sterlingrescue.org/join/
