Exploring Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad

EMT Release – Congratulations Ryan!

Congratulations to Ryan, Sterling Rescue’s newest Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Attendant in Charge (AIC)!

With a diverse healthcare and significant EMS background in another jurisdiction, Ryan has now completed the additional training required by Loudoun County to be recognized as an AIC (an independent provider who can lead an ambulance crew responding to emergency calls).

Ryan grew up in Northern Virginia and joined SVRS because, having stepped away from EMS for a few years, he was impressed with the professionalism and skill he witnessed from arriving units at a local hospital. As Ryan says, “As a former trauma RN and now Nurse Practitioner, I wanted to return to the field that started my medical career and use my knowledge to enhance the care available in our community.”

Ryan holds his BSN from George Mason University, and his MSN from George Washington University. He plans to further his career in healthcare while also serving SVRS.

We are so happy to have Ryan with Sterling Rescue and as part of our Day Crew operating from Station 625 in the Cascades Safety Center. In addition to EMT training, Sterling Rescue also offers the opportunity for Advanced EMT and Paramedic training to qualified members who wish to advance their emergency medical service skills.

Want to join a great team and work with people like Ryan? Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad currently has openings for both operational and administrative volunteers. The operational volunteers serve as first responders, delivering emergency medical support to the community. The administrative volunteers perform a variety of support roles in areas such as recruiting, membership support, and business operations. No experience is required, and training is provided.  https://sterlingrescue.org/join/
