On 29 March 2018, three members of the Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad were awarded the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System (LC-CFRS) Meritorious Service Award for their actions on Christmas Eve 2017 in professionally treating and transporting a Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Deputy who was wounded by gunfire in performance of duties. The officers and members of the Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad congratulate, Alex Apple (FF/Paramedic), Jessica Lindsay (EMT), and Elizabeth Apple (Administrative), as well as all of the other recipients, on their awards.
